Funding Your Education
This week I read the Newsletter for the Municipality of Yarmouth and noticed their Municipal Bursary Program.
I got me to thinking, when I was in school I did not hear about Bursaries or Scholarships until graduation!
I’m not really blaming anyone, but if I had known there was money available and that if I got good grades some of it may have been mine, I’d been more apt to study harder, and possibly have attended a University when I graduated.
So, to help others, I wanted to do this article on available Bursary Programs and resources. It is not in any way intended to be a complete list of what is available, it is more just to help make students and parents aware that there is possible funding available to help fund future education.
The Yarmouth Municipal Bursary Program is accepting applications for two $500 bursaries to be given to two deserving students graduating from grade twelve in the spring of 2007; who reside in the Municipality of Yarmouth.
Yarmouth Municipal Bursary Program Information
We suggest you check your local Gov’t. Web Sites. In Yarmouth County and surrounding areas we invite you to visit YarmouthCounty.com for Local Government Links.
There are a number of other Bursary Programs available and one of the easiest ways to find out about them is to do a Do A Google Search For Bursaries.
One of the more interesting places we found during our search was the Canada Millennium Scholarship Foundation which provides students with opportunities to pursue the post-secondary education they need to prepare themselves for the future. It’s objectives are to improve access to post-secondary education for all Canadians, especially those facing economic or social barriers; to encourage a high level of student achievement and engagement in Canadian society; and to build a national alliance of organizations and individuals around a shared post-secondary agenda.
Over the past seven years the Canada Millennium Scholarship Foundation has awarded over $3.2 Million in West Nova, and over $1.9 million to South Shore / St. Margret’s. The two Federal Riding’s closest to Yarmouth County and surrounding areas of Nova Scotia.
Visit The Canada Millennium Scholarship Foundation.
We hope this has provided helpful information to those of you who are planning on continuing your education. We wish you all the best in your future plans and upcoming studies.
So, for YarmouthCounty.com, this has been Brian Hurlburt, and I invite you to Make it a great day!
Sincerely,
Brian Hurlburt

Listen To Yarmouth Bands Online!
We want you to join us in thanking Lynn Hemeon, The Groveroader, who has done a great job in finding and promoting Yarmouth Bands. Lynn has spent his own time, hundreds of hours, building a great Yarmouth Bands Site and also a great Yarmouth Bands Pod Casting Channel.
Visit Lynn’s Yarmouth Bands Site and Yarmouth Bands Pod Casting Channel and drop him a line and let him know how much you appreciate his many hours of hard work and sincere dedication in preserving the rich history of music and talent in Yarmouth County and surrounding areas.
Lynn has done a beautiful job of showcasing new groups and artists as well as paying tribute to those who are no longer with us.
Now, thanks to Lynn’s hard work and dedication and his willingness to share the results with us all we will be broadcasting the music of our local bands in our Yarmouth County Online Conference Room.
This means you can Download our Yarmouth County Online Conference Room and listen to Yarmouth Bands and performers from anywhere in the world!
Our Online Conference Room is safe to download and easy to use. It is also a great place to meet online and chat with friends and family while listening to music performed by our local bands and artists.
Download Our Yarmouth County Online Conference Room
Once you have downloaded the room you’ll see an icon on your computer screen that you will need to click on.
After you click on the icon you’ll be prompted to enter your name and login into the room.
Once you’ve logged into the room, you’ll be able to listen to the music playing there.
As well as communicate with our DJ’s and Room Moderators.
Our DJ’s and Room Moderators will tell you how you can communicate with your friends and families in the room.
One of the other great features of the room is that it allows you to listen to the music even when you are visiting other Sites, or working on other projects, on computer! All you have to do is minimize the room to your desk top and you’ll still be able to listen to the music while you work or surf online!
Remember, it’s a free safe download and our DJ’s and Room Moderators will help with your questions and explain all you need to know once you login.
Now having said all that, we will be trying to find people to volunteer as DJ’s and Room Moderators. I can teach you how to use the room and play the music in about fifteen minutes and that’s even if you have little or no prior knowledge of how to run a conference room! It really is that easy!
Our first broadcast period will be this evening and I’ll be your DJ and Room Moderator. I want to invite you to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with us beginning at 6pm. If you can’t be there at 6pm it’s definitely ok to stop by later. So come and enjoy an evening of music in our Yarmouth County Online Conference Room.
