With spring less than two weeks away, summer tourism must be on the minds of hotel and motel owners.
I’ve decided to do a Hotel Review of the different types of Hotel and Motel Web Sites. It’s not meant to be an extensive list, but rather to give some ideas and helpful hints to owners looking to promote their business online.
There are what I like to call three main types of Web Sites. They are passive/informative, inspirational, and call to action. I should also say that these are primarily my descriptions of the three main types of Sites.
An example of what I refer to as a pasive or informative Hotel Site is the one for the Red Cap Restaurant And Motel in West Pubnico. I’ve been to the place and it’s nicely situated in West Pubnico and has a restaurant with great food and good accommodations.
However the Web Site does little but provide you with the most passive of information. It’s sort of take it or leave it, we’re here if you want to come see us type thing! In my opinion the Red Cap deserves better, it lacks inspiration!
As an example of an inspirational Site I like the Voyager Motel Site. The Site is very simple, but it shows clearly the beauty of the location with the lake, trees, and back it up with such pages as “Why Stay With US?, a photo gallery, and a very clearly marked “Contact Us” page. All of this is cleverly designed to inspire you to action, to pick up the phone or send an email. Yet, it lacks what I like and think is crucial to a business Site, a call to action!
For an example of a Site that I see as having a Call To Action is Rodds Grand Hotel. Why do I refer to it as a call to action Site? Well, what is one of the first things you see one the Site? The Reservations Link!
When potential clients and guests search for something online they want to act as soon as possible. We live in a instant world! We want instant results, and when visitors come to your Site they want a call to action. They don’t want to have to email you, they don’t want to have to call you, they want to insure they have what they want in as short of time as possible! A Call To Action!
Now, lets look at this from a different perspective on a couple of different Sites from two different areas. First let’s look at Check In Nova Scotia. what is the first thing you see when you visit the Check In Site? That’s right a call to action!
Now, suppose for a minute you wanted to book lodging in, let’s say Amsterdam! OK, OK, I know, but many generations ago my mom’s family was from there!
Any way, would we want to visit a passive information Site? A inspirational Site with no call to action? Or perhaps best of all an informative inspirational Site with a great call to action! After all if we’re planning a trip we don’t want to have to email or phone some one in another area do we!?
Of course not, we want a call to action! A Site where we can visit and make a decision to visit Amsterdam! Right?
Of course, we want information on Amsterdam.
Of course we want to be inspired to visit Amsterdam!
But most off all we want to Book Lodging In Amsterdam!
Now, I have to ask? How many of you have clicked one of those links? Every link was a call to action to Visit EasyTo Book.com!
I’m sure that many of you now know how important it is to have a Site like EasyTo Book.com! that yes, provides information, inspires you, and most of all Calls you To action!
My suggestion is that if you have any type of online business, or off line business with an online Web Site, you make sure it has a call to action!
Oh yes, in case I forgot to mention it EasyTo Book.com also has great information and resources on it’s Site! This way they draw in visitors looking for information on Amsterdam. I’m sure some of these visitors who come looking for information also answer the call to action and book lodging in Am,sterdam using EasyTo Book.com!
So, really to have an effective Site, provide relevant information, not only about your product or service, but about the area around you! One great way to do this is to provide them a link to YarmouthCounty.com
What, after all that you thought I’d let you go with out a call to action!
This has been Brian Hurlburt, for YarmouthCounty.com, and I invite you to Make it a great day!
Sincerely,
Brian Hurlburt
