Ok, before I really get going on this Post, I know there are some of you who are saying, “What the heck is Pod Catching?” Well, it is simply the term that is used for all those people who listen to Pod Casts. I began thinking more as a Pod Catcher today than a Pod Caster!I recently discovered Podango.com which has some of the best Pod Casts anywhere online!
Listening to What Will Be The iPhone’s Impact on Business Podcasting? Marketing Online Live #47.
That was when I discovered one of the real benefit of Pod Catching (listening to Pod Casts).I was sitting here at the computer with my headset on and really had to go, umm… pee! At first I was so into what I was listening to that I kept listening till I just had to, umm… go!
Then it hit me!
I could pause the PodCast! I was not watching TV, or listening to radio, I was free! Free at last!
Free to pause the PodCast and return to it later!
Now I know that seems rather lame on my part, but it got me to thinking…
What if I had a MP3 Player, I-Pod, or cell phone that would let me listen to PodCasts when I was away from the computer!?
Imagine a typical day where you come home, login in to say, Podango.com or Yarmouth County Pod Casting, and downloaded the PodCasts I wanted to listen to the next day.
Then on the way to work I could listen to the PodCasts.
Then on my breaks, or over lunch I could listen to the music, message, or another podcast topic of interest that I had chose!
I would no longer have to listen to what some Television or Radio Station wanted to feed me! I could listen to what I wanted to listen to! Whether it was a book, a business report, a weather forecast, or whatever else I could ever want! I could listen to it at my convenience!
Then on my way home I could once again choose what I wanted to listen to! Oh, but what if I had to stop for gas or run some errands? Would I miss part of the show? No, of course not! All I’d have to do is pause the Podcast and press play after I was done with my errands, Right?
Well, actually I wouldn’t even have to pause it! I could just take it with me!
Imagine running our errands and learning something new or listening to our favorite music or other recording while we do our errands!!!
Wow, now I’m glad I had to pee!
Actually I’m probably more glad I could go pee and not miss any of what I was listening to! Especially when it was something I want to listen to and not what some TV or Radio Station wants to feed me!
Now I’m sure you’re beginning to see, as am I, the benefits of Pod Catching!
I don’t own a MP3 Player, other than this computer, but I soon will! Will You?
Then we can begin truly listening to what we want to listen to, when we want to listen to it, and where we want to listen to it!
That’s the power of Pod Casting and the benefits of Pod Catching.

On the week that Al Gore’s film, An Inconvenient Truth was to come to town we’ve discovered several inconvenient truths!
First we had the 777 Iframe Virus attacking the server YarmouthCounty.com is on and trying to destroy our Site, as well as many others!
Then there was the weather! We had like the winter storm of the year this past week here in Yarmouth County and that meant I was off work most of the week. I started a second job last month (click here to read about it).
Then on the evening that TREPA and Trout Unlimited Canada were to host the free showing of Al Gore’s film, An Inconvenient Truth it was postponed due to the weather!
So, as I said there have been a number of inconvenient truths going on this past week!
However, things are starting to warm up!
Looking at things from a positive point of view, the weather this week gave me time to stay home and look after creating this new Blog, work with our Kiosk Support Team addressing the issue of the virus — which has now been removed from YarmouthCounty.com, create Yarmouth County Phone Casts, Yarmouth County Videos, and gave me time to address many other things that needed addressing.
The weather postponing the film was a good thing in that I would not have been able to attend last evening due to a bad cold! (Did I mention that! Yes, on top of everything else I’m recovering from a cold!) So now I’ll have a better chance to see the film when it’s here. Hopefully it’ll be on a Thursday eveing again, I work long days flagging Monday to Wednesday!
So all in all, on the week that TREPA and Trout Unlimited Canada were to host the free showing of Al Gore’s film, An Inconvenient Truth it certainly heated up around here for us at YarmouthCounty.com!
Yet, to be perfectly honest now that the virus, or should I say viruses (computer and cold), has been taken care of and the clean up is almost complete things are starting to get back to normal! Whatever normal is!
In fact this whole week has given me time to work on some projects I’d not otherwise had time to work on! Things that will be improving YarmouthCounty.com and bringing even better services to you, the resident, businesses, and visitors of in Yarmouth County and surrounding areas.
So, continue to read our Yarmouth County Blog to see what new things we have in store, and remember to always try to make the best of your inconvenient truths. You never know, perhaps somewhere therein is the secret to finding ways to improve the world around us!
